Choosing natural and safe appetite suppressants
Due to the dangers of pharmaceutical weight loss pills, most people are switching over to the natural options to suppress appetite so as to shed their extra pounds.
Though many people know about the risks associated with diet pills based on amphetamine, the dangers of ephedra, which is a natural appetite suppressant, came as a blow. So, you need not blindly take any appetite suppressant that is natural, thinking that it would be safe for you. Careful research is mandatory in this regard.
Green tea
Extract of green tea is quite a popular appetite suppressant that is natural and which works in a similar way as other pharmaceutical suppressants. Central nervous system is stimulated by both kinds of appetite suppressants. The only difference being, green tea utilizes caffeine instead of amphetamines.
Hence, the side effects are less in case of green tea extract but its effects to reduce hunger are also reduced. Not to forget, even when green tea is natural, it does have a few side effects, especially for those who are allergic to caffeine. Restlessness, hypertension and insomnia are a few side effects that one might face by taking green tea.
Magnesium
Magnesium is another natural appetite suppressant. The reason for using magnesium as an appetite suppressant is the fact that magnesium deficiency leads to an excessively active appetite. As the magnesium levels would be replenished, the hunger within the body would be reduced.
However, this is quite a flawed logic as this is based on the supposition that most overweight people have magnesium deficiency, which is not true. Only seven percent of overweight Americans were found to have magnesium deficiency. So, magnesium may not work as a good appetite suppressant for majority of people.
Hoodia
Hooda is the latest buzz word as an effective natural appetite suppressant. It is very effective and does not work like other appetite suppressants by stimulating your central nervous system that causes side effects. It simply tricks the brain into thinking that levels of blood sugar are high, thereby suggesting that stomach is already full and does not need more nutrients.
By far, side effects have not been reported as regards to Hoodia, not is it known to interact with any other pharmaceutical drug or supplement.
Recently, it has also been made evident that Hoodia also boosts up the metabolism, so that more fat is burnt. So, among all natural appetite suppressants, Hoodia is believed to be the most effective solution nowadays.
